KUCHING BEATS THE ODDS TO WIN INTERNATIONAL HASH 2010

They were the underdogs. They were first time bidders for the International Hash Run 2010, against very notable competition which included Bali, Kuala Lumpur and Kenya. First time bidders have never won this bid in the history of the International Hash event. In just four days, I had to produce a bid video to convince 5,000 seasoned hash runners that Kuching in Sarawak, Borneo was the next place to hold the biggest event in the hash world.

In a “David versus Goliath” act, Kuching upstaged the world to win the bid to host this major international event.

In my view, the note I received from Jill Henry, CEO of Sarawak Convention Bureau, is worth much more than all the creative awards I have ever won in my lifetime:

Dear Peter,

Below is the message we just sent to board members

“ we could not have done it without your help in saving the day on the bid video. I am sure that we could not have done this without you! Thanks a million. There’s no stopping us now eh !!!! See you Tuesday.

Jill

This video was shown once only to a closed audience of 5,000 delegates of the International Hash Run in Perth Australia and has never been used for commercial or any other purposes. Sarawak Convention Bureau is a Non Profit Organisation of the government of Sarawak, Borneo.
